Vietnam is ready to integrate in the ASEAN Economic Community

(VOVworld) – Vietnam is ready to integrate in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). The ASEAN Economic Community officially came into being on Thursday, connecting 10 ASEAN economies with the population of 630 million people.

It envisions ASEAN as a single market and production base, a highly competitive region, with equitable economic development, and fully integrated into the global economy. Speaking at this year’s 1st “People ask, Ministers answer” program, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, said together with other Ministries and sectors, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is implementing various activities to respond to the integration: “In 2016, we continue to promote political relations, creating a premise to develop the economy, trade and encourage foreign investment in Vietnam, attract more ODA resources to Vietnam as well as expand exports to regional markets. We also support enterprises to expand business relations and further communicate about the ASEAN Community to make enterprises and people more aware of this Community.”

Mr. Minh said this year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic agencies abroad would continue to support enterprises by providing them more information through Investment and Trade Promotion Forums.
