Vietnam marks 35 years of fruitful cooperation with the United Nations

 (VOVworld)-Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh has praised the efficient cooperation between Vietnam and the United Nations since the country joined the UN 35 years ago.

He wrote that the admission marked a new stage in Vietnam’s multilateral diplomacy and its contribution to national construction and defense. The relationships have flourished in all areas, including education, culture, trade and politics. Through its participation at the UN, Vietnam has contributed to the protection of national interests, sovereignty and territorial integrity while joining efforts with the international community to foster peace, national independence and development on the basis of international laws and the UN Charter. Vietnam had been elected to the non-permanent UN Security Council membership in 2008 – 2009 term and its successful work was applauded internationally. Vietnam will promote its multilateral foreign policy and its cooperation with the UN to foster peace for industrialization and modernization, national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity while contributing to the world peace, national independence, democracy and social advancement.
