Vietnam prepares for satellite manufacturing

The Vietnam National Space Centre of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Japan’s Sumitomo Group signed a package deal on the satellite manufacturing and personnel training in Hanoi on Friday.

Under the plan, Japanese satellite manufacturer NEC will be in charge of designing, manufacturing, and training human resource at its facility in Japan and then transfer technology for Vietnam.

The design process will be conducted simultanously with the training of 86 practitioners specialized in manufacturing, operation, and application of satellite pics.

LOTUSat-1 weighs 570 kilos using the latest radar technology. It will take photos and provide the precisest information to help respond and minimize the impacts of natural disasters, climate change, management of natural resources, and environment oversight.
