A group of artists has turned discarded items in this polluted area into art and encouraged local people to preserve and protect it. The project was inspired by an unofficial landfill site, right on the bank of the Red River, once used as a shelter for the poor. The Phuc Tan landfill has been reinvented as a gathering place for Hanoi’s young people with 16 public artworks representative of the capital city.
