This is the first FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by three nations. FIFA also unveiled the tournament poster and a countdown clock in The Shops at Columbus Circle. The New York-New Jersey Host Committee said it is preparing to welcome the world, finalizing fan engagements, security and transportation plans.

"With a hundred days out, what's exciting about hosting a World Cup in Canada, the US, and Mexico is we have the stadiums; we have the airports; we have the hotels; we have the infrastructure. And so let's bring on the fun. Of course, we need to focus on security and hospitality to make sure people have a wonderful time. And they want to come back. They want to invest their money. They want to visit. They wanna maybe move here," said US Soccer Federation CEO JT Batson.

Mexico is set to host the opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the iconic Estadio Azteca on June 11, 2026, against South Africa in Group A, kicking off the world's largest football tournament.

World Cup 2026 will run from June 11 to July 19. It will be the biggest World Cup ever with 48 participating teams, promising thrilling actions and stories.
