Party leader urges new Quang Tri province to keep improving infrastructure, people's lives
(VOVWORLD) -Party General Secretary To Lam applauded preparations for the operation of the administrative apparatus of the new Quang Tri province on July 1, saying the merger of Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces has been carefully considered by the Party Central Committee, demonstrating a long-term vision in reorganizing the national administrative space coupled with the goal of effective, connected, and sustainable regional development.

Visiting and working with the Standing Boards of the Party Committees of Quang Binh and Quang Tri on Wednesday, the General Secretary stressed the need to effectively tap the potentials, advantages and complementarities between the two regions of the new province.

He suggested that the new province clearly define the development axes: coast-seaport-municipality; midland-industry-service; mountain-agriculture-ecotourism.
Economic development must go hand in hand with protecting the environment, preserving local cultural identity, and improving the lives of people in disadvantaged areas, Mr. Lam said and called for focused investment in essential infrastructure, basic social services in remote areas, especially mountainous communes, border and ethnic minority areas.
