The task force will advise and support the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and the provincial Steering Committee on IUU prevention in carrying out inspections and assessments of how the European Commission’s recommendations are being implemented.
It is also tasked with detecting shortcomings and proposing corrective measures and action against organizations and individuals whose failure to perform their duties affects the province’s overall results.
The province currently has 8,200 fishing vessels, all of which have been registered and fully updated in the Vietnam Fisheries Database System (Vnfishbase).
Efforts to manage the fleet and monitor fishing activities at sea are being intensified to prevent violations in foreign waters. Vessels that fail to meet operational requirements are strictly barred from leaving port for fishing.
