Over the past 76 years, Vietnam and Poland have cultivated a robust and enduring friendship. As both countries seek new drivers for growth, the current objective is to build upon this traditional foundation while broadening cooperation in sectors that leverage the respective strengths and development priorities of each nation.

Effectively tapping into economic potential

This time marks the second time Donald Tusk is paying an official visit to Vietnam as Prime Minister of Poland, after his previous visit in 2010. In 2025 the two countries issued a joint statement on elevating their bilateral relations.

Polish Ambassador to Vietnam Joanna Skoczek said, “Now, fast forward to today, both our countries are in a completely different position. Both our countries, Poland and Vietnam, respectively in their regions, are the economic leaders. And we have new opportunities opening.”

Economics, trade and investment are considered one of the important driving forces to take Vietnam-Poland relations further. In 2025, two-way trade turnover totaled 3.94 billion USD, up 14.8% over the previous year, indicating developing trade relations with ample room for cooperation.

The Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) has been creating favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to access each other's markets. However, to better take advantage of its incentives, the two sides are promoting trade, providing more market information, removing barriers and supporting businesses to meet European market standards.

Besides traditional trade items, Vietnam and Poland can also expand cooperation in food processing, agriculture, manufacturing industry, information technology, science-technology and digital transformation.

“What makes me very proud is the growing presence of Polish companies at the most important Vietnam trade events that are organized every year, both in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, such as Viet Food and Beverage, ICT, Farma and Beauty or Mining. In all these areas, we have products, we already have cooperation, but the thing is to develop this cooperation further,” according to Ambassador Skoczek.

The Polish Ambassador placed special emphasis on the potential for cooperation in education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, noting that the Vietnamese community of 25,000 people in Poland is contributing to greater mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations.

Coordination for peace and development

The Vietnam-Poland relations not only foster bilateral cooperation but also contribute to stronger Vietnam-EU ties. As an EU member state, Poland can help expand cooperation between Vietnam and its European partners in areas such as trade, sustainable development, and addressing global challenges.

Given that both nations consistently support and coordinate with each other within multilateral forums—upholding international law, the UN Charter, and multilateralism—the visit by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk provides an opportunity for both sides to further discuss future directions for cooperation that will contribute to peace, stability, and development.
