Vietnam continues winning international acclaim for fighting Covid-19

(VOVWORLD) - Following the World Health Organization (WHO) and the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (USCDC), other international organizations and media have praised the Vietnamese government for aggressively containing the Covid-19 epidemic.

UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam Kamal Malhotra, at a meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Tuesday, praised Vietnam’s effort and strong, active measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Malhotra said the UN has shared Vietnam’s experience with other countries.

At a reception for a Vietnamese Foreign Affairs delegation at WHO headquarters in Geneva, WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus spoke highly of Vietnam’s early measures, the political commitment of Vietnam’s leaders, and the engagement of all sectors and localities in fighting Covid-19.  He applauded the effective cooperation of ASEAN countries and Vietnam’s role as the ASEAN Chair. He said the WHO has recommended that African countries learn from ASEAN’s model.

Sputnik Radio of Russia in a program on March 4 said Vietnamese medicine, which combines Eastern and Western approaches, meets high international standards, and Vietnam’s current efforts to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus demonstrate the high level of local healthcare services.

Vietnam has used effective diagnosis and treatment methods, Sputnik said, adding that the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology has cultivated SARS-CoV-2 in the lab, which has paved the way for the production of quick test kits for the virus.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) and the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (USCDC) applauded Vietnam’s performance in preventing and combating the acute respiratory disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 at a working session with Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam in Hanoi on February 28. The USCDC asked Vietnam to continue sharing information and experience, including its coronavirus genome,  with the international community
