Tourism has become an important spearhead sector in Vietnam’s economy. National parks, beautiful beaches, and UNESCO recognized heritage sites are major attractions.

Many international newspapers recently said that tourism has become one of the important factors of the Vietnamese economy. With innovations in organization, models, and services, Vietnam’s tourism has huge potential for development. Vietnam has advantages in natural and cultural resources to develop tourism.

According to research by TAB and the Swiss Sustainable Tourism Project (SSTP), Vietnam attracts tourists for three main reasons: cultural diversity and cultural heritages (87.5 %), nature and natural wonders (62.5%), and food and cuisine (58.3%).

Travel magazine said Vietnam has been one of the countries with the cheapest and safest travel for many years and will retain this status. In particular, Vietnam is one of the friendliest countries for American tourists.

According to Asia News Network, in the first five months of the year Vietnam welcomed 7.5 million foreign tourists, an increase of nearly 65% over the same period last year and 4% higher than in 2019. 5.9 million tourists came from Asian countries, with China sending the most tourists to Vietnam.

CNN reported that Vietnam will restore two steam trains manufactured in the 1960s to operate on the Da Nang-Hue route later this year or early next year. Travel and Tour World reported that tourists are turning to travel by train due to rising airfares.

Vietnam's economy has gradually shifted from agriculture to a service economy. With its advantages and innovation, tourism is playing an increasingly important role in the national economy.
