The 19th International HIV/AIDS Conference kicked off Sunday in Washington D.C to call on the world to speed up the global response to the disease of the century. Under the theme “Turning the Tide Together”, the 6-day conference draws 25 thousand people, including politicians, scientists and social activists. Director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease urged the governments, the organizations, and individuals to promote more effectively scientific achievements in the fight against HIV/AIDS. During a week, the conference will focus on discussion over efforts to seek new HIV treatments and the sponsorship from the countries and the international community in the fight against HIV.
