(VOVworld) – The National Assembly Standing Committee’s 20
th session began on Monday. The meeting will continue for 10 days presided over by Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and will debate 7 draft laws, 2 draft ordinances, and 2 decrees and review the implementation of legal documents passed by the 12
th and 13
th National Assembly. The deputies will also solicit opinions on draft revisions of the 1992 Constitution and hold question and answer sessions for the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment.
On Monday morning, the Standing Committee discussed a draft ordinance on the mobile force. National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu and a majority of opinions agreed on the need to issue this ordinance. They said the Mobile Police is a special
fighting force with the primary tasks of protecting national security and cooperating with other forces to combat extremely dangerous crimes and organizational crimes.
Chairman Hung agreed with all recommendations on the draft ordinance and asked the Committee to finalize it for issuance as scheduled.
In the afternoon, the National Assembly Standing Committee discussed the draft law on internal water transport. The deputies were keen on such topics as waterway management, means of transport, and the licensing of boat steering permits. Many urged for more clarification of the responsibilities of the involved people, so as to minimize accidents and provide a legal foundation for dealing with waterway accidents.
