31st regular meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council wraps up

(VOVworld) – More than 40 resolutions have been approved at the 31st regular meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) which wrapped up in Geneva, Switzerland, on Thursday.

Addressing the event, Ambassador Nguyen Trung Thanh, head of the Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the UN, called for constructive cooperation and dialogue to seek for appropriate solutions to disagreements. Vietnam directly sponsored resolutions on the enforcement of economic and socio-cultural rights, cultural and cultural diversity rights, the right to food and the right to work, which were approved by the council with high consensus. The UNHRC adopted bills related to numerous issues of international concern, including the implementation of economic and socio-cultural rights, the rights to work and food, cultural and cultural diversity rights, as well as those related to migration, terrorism, and humanitarian crises. The 47 council members voted for approval of other bills, including those on the situation in Syria, Iran and occupied Palestine territorial areas.
