Additionally, the coastal border forces provided warnings and guidance to over 51,000 ships and 220,000 people to help them take preventive measures and shelter. Sea bans were enforced from Quang Ninh to Quang Binh on Friday , while cities like Hanoi and Hai Phong evacuated more than 3,000 residents from hazardous apartment buildings to temporary shelters ahead of the storm's arrival.

Typhoon Yagi entered the Gulf of Tonkin on Friday. Although it has weakened from a super typhoon to level 14 after passing Hainan Island, it remains highly dangerous. The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported that by midnight, Bach Long Vi Island in Hai Phong experienced level 8 winds with gusts reaching level 10, while Co To Island in Quang Ninh saw gusts up to level 7. The storm was located about 310 km of Quang Ninh with wind speeds of up to 166 km/h, moving west-northwest at 15-20 km/h.

Forecasts indicated that by Saturday afternoon, the storm's center would be near Quang Ninh and Nam Dinh with wind speeds of level 13, then weaken as it moves inland. The storm is expected to downgrade further as it approaches the Vietnam-Laos border.
