40 countries pledge to help rebuild Ukraine
(VOVWORLD) -40 countries have pledged to support Ukraine's recovery, which they emphasize should be transparent and accountable to the people.

At the end of a two-day Ukraine Recovery Conference in Switzerland, the 40 countries adopted the Lugano Declaration, laying out a set of principles for rebuilding Ukraine. The Lugano principles stress that "the recovery process must contribute to accelerating, deepening, broadening, and achieving Ukraine's reform efforts and resilience in line with Ukraine's European path".
The document calls for the recovery process to be "inclusive and ensure gender equality”, and calls for Ukraine to be rebuilt in a "sustainable manner".
On the first day of the conference Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said the reconstruction of Ukraine could cost as much as 750 billion USD.
