(VOVworld) - Forty-five Christian churches were torched over the weekend in Niger’s capital during deadly protests over the publication of a Prophet Mohammed cartoon by the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, police said on Monday.

The protests, which left at least 10 people dead and 170 people injured in the
capital city of Niamey
and Zinder, also saw a Christian school and orphanage set alight.
Over 1 million people took part in a rally protesting the cartoons of Prophet Muhammad in Gronzny city of the Chechen Republic. In some countries with a large Muslim population, including Pakistan and Algeria, many protests have broken out.
