5-year socio-economic development plans until 2020 to be built

(VOVworld) – The Prime Minister has asked ministries, localities, economic groups, and state-owned corporations to work on their 5-year socio-economic development plans until 2020. The overall targets will be maintaining the macro-economy, controlling inflation, achieving sustainable growth, and turning Vietnam into a fully-developed industrial nation by 2020. Vietnam expects to achieve an average annual growth rate of 6.5-7% and reduce the poverty rate by 1.5% a year. Priority will be given to the socialist-oriented market economy, human resources development, the application of science and technology, and infrastructure development. Greater efforts will be made to protect natural resources, adapt to climate change, safeguard national independence and sovereignty, and ensure political security and social order.
