Activities commemorate War Invalids and Martyrs Day

(VOVWORLD) - National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai on Saturday attended a program to commemorate the 120th birthday of Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Thu and pay tribute to heroic martyrs in Quang Nam province, on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947-July 27, 2024).

At Martyrs’ Cemetery of Dien Ban town, Mr. Hai laid wreaths and offered incense at each grave to commemorate every revolutionary predecessor.

The Hanoi Youth Union held a candle lighting ceremony to pay tribute to heroic martyrs at the Hanoi Martyrs' Cemetery on Saturday evening. During the program, the Youth Union gave 150 gifts to families of policy beneficiaries, wounded and sick soldiers, and revolutionary contributors and 66 restored portraits of martyrs to their mothers and families. This activity is part of a Project to restore old photos of fallen solders launched by the Hanoi Youth Union.

Also on Saturday, the Rung Sac-Can Gio Martyrs' Temple was inaugurated in Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City. The temple is located at the Rung Sac-Can Gio Martyrs' Cemetery, where over 1,220 fallen soldiers of two national resistance wars are resting. The temple includes the main hall, a statue of President Ho Chi Minh, and statue of Rung Sac Special Forces.
