Addressing the 32nd anniversary of the founding of the Armenian army on Sunday, Prime Minister Pashinyan confirmed that Armenia presented Azerbaijan with a proposal for a mutual arms control mechanism and the signing of a non-aggression pact if the signature of a peace treaty encounters delays.

He also said that Armenia needs to review its strategic thinking in security and diversify international relationships.

Armenia and Azerbaijan have recently announced their readiness to sign a peace agreement to end decades of conflict in the Nagorny-Karabakh region, a mountainous region within Azerbaijan where the majority of the population is of Armenian descent.

Previous internationally-brokered peace talks have failed to produce a breakthrough.
