The project, whose adjustment in investment policy was just approved by Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, has an estimated investment of 1.5 billion USD.
Around 1.2 billion USD of the project’s total investment will be ODA loans from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under the Special Terms for Economic Partnership (STEP), while the rest will come from Hanoi’s budget.
It will be 11.5 km long, with 8.9 km underground and 2.6 km elevated, as well as 7 underground stations and 3 elevated stations.
The Nam Thang Long-Tran Hung Dao section will serve as a critical backbone for line 2, which also includes Tran Hung Dao-Thuong Dinh and Noi Bai-Nam Thang Long metro lines.
It will connect the capital city’s center to Noi Bai International Airport and its northern urban areas, and plays a crucial role in promoting tourism and shaping Hanoi’s urban architecture.
The Hanoi urban railway’s line 2 was commenced in 2009 and will be completed in 2031.
