The 24th ASEAN Summit in Myanmar

(VOVworld) – ASEAN countries are closely following developments in Thailand and calling for a peaceful solution to Thailand's crisis through dialogue and in accordance with the laws and democratic principles, said ASEAN’s foreign ministers at the closing of the 24^th ASEAN summit in Myanmar on Sunday. They recalled the ASEAN Declaration on Thailand’s situation released last year in Tokyo, which emphasized the importance of the democratic process in restoring law and security and effecting national reconciliation. The statement said that ASEAN members believe Thailand can quickly overcome its current difficulties if it seeks measures in conformity with the principles stated in the bloc’s Charter.
