Kem Sokha, Vice President of the National Rescue Party (CNRP), and Nguon Nhil, former first President of the Cambodian National Assembly, were elected as the first and second Vice Presidents of the Cambodian Parliament. The Parliament also elected 10 chairmen for parliamentary commissions.
Under the July 27 agreement, the opposition National Rescue Party agreed to join the Parliament, after 1 year of suspension and street demonstrations.  In return, the CPP pledged to reform the electoral system and leave the posts of the first Parliamentary Vice President and the 5 Chairs of the Parliamentary Commissions for the CNRP.
