(VOV) – Can Tho authorities have held a meeting with religious dignitaries on the occasion of the Lunar New year.

Leaders of Can Tho’s Fatherland Front praised the city’s religious organizations for their active participation in charity activities such as providing gifts, rice, and free medical checks up to poor people, helping orphan children, and building charity houses worth 36 billion VND. The city’s Fatherland Front Committee also sent New Year’s wishes to religious organizations. The Committee asked them to continue to implement Party and State policies and guidelines to build a cultural lifestyle in residential areas and boost socio-economic development in localities. Bui Van Hai, Chairman of Can Tho city’s Fatherland Front Committee, said: "In the past years, religious organizations and sanghas have been reinforced and developed. Religious dignitaries and followers have always brought into full play patriotic tradition, lead a good secular life, and actively responded to patriotic movements".
