Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harpe began a 6- day visit to India yesterday to promote bilateral cooperation in business, trade, investment, and nuclear energy. Harpe and his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh will discuss cooperation strategies, specifically the deployment of a nuclear energy agreement signed in 2010. Canada wants to broaden trade with Asia, said Canadian Minister of Finance Jim Flaherty at the Conference “Canada in the Pacific Decade”. Flaherty said the world is looking to Asia for economic opportunities and Canadian enterprises should not be slow in this race. Markets in the Asia-Pacific region are growing rapidly and Canadian enterprises can push trade through promotion agreement.
