Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday held talks with his South Korean counterpart Park Geun-hye who is visiting Beijing. This is Park Geun-hye’s first state visit to China since she became South Korean President in February this year. Chinese President Xi Jinping affirmed that China attaches importance to relations with South Korea and considers it to be an important part of Beijing’s foreign policy. Xi expressed his hope that South Korean President Park Geun-hye’s visit will strengthen the cooperation partnership and bilateral strategy between the two countries. Park Geun-hye said that the China-South Korea relationship has been developed significantly since two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992. Park said she would take advantage of this visit to boost bilateral relations as well as efforts on maintaining peace and stability in Northeast Asia. After the summit, the two leaders witnessed the signing of 8 cooperation agreements on energy, trade, technology and maritime cooperation. In the 4-day visit to China, South Korean President will hold talks with Prime Minister Li Keqiang and National Assembly Chairman Zhang Dejiang and visit some provinces in China’s Northwest.
