Chinese top leader’s visit bears strategic significance, says Deputy PM
(VOVWORLD) - The upcoming state visit to Vietnam by Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping is a major political and diplomatic event for both Parties and countries, with strategic significance and long-term implications for bilateral ties, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son told the press on Friday.

President Xi is scheduled to hold talks with Party General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong, and meet with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chính and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to discuss key directions and measures to strengthen cooperation across various fields. He will also take part in several high-level diplomatic activities.
Deputy PM Son said the Vietnamese Party and State leaders are looking forward to the visit and expect that it will boost strategic exchanges, set major cooperation orientations and priorities, and make bilateral ties more substantive, effective, and sustainable.
It is also expected to help address outstanding issues on borders and territory, and manage and resolve maritime differences more effectively in line with shared high-level perceptions.
Around 40 cooperation agreements are expected to be signed during the visit, creating a solid foundation for expanded collaboration.
