Da Nang city is taking urgent measures to ensure the safety of boats and residential areas, especially landslide-prone areas, after more than a month of relentless rain and floods.

Authorities are inspecting high-risk areas, and are ready to mobilize forces to help people evacuate or reinforce their houses.

The Khanh Hoa provincial People's Committee has banned vessels from sailing after 7 a.m. Friday. By 6 p.m.  Friday, all fishermen must have returned to shore. Aquaculture farmers must stop tending their fish cages.

“Anchorages and fishing ports are offering shelter to ships from other localities. Fire prevention must be ensured on all vessels and cooking must be done carefully. Everyone aboard every vessel must evacuate before the typhoon makes landfall,” provincial Chairman Tran Phong said.
