Conference to review crime fighting and prevention

(VOV) – The Government’s Steering Committee for National Crime Prevention on Wednesday reviewed crime fighting and prevention in the past year and work out tasks for this year.

According to the Steering Board, since the beginning of this year, more than 37 crimes relating to social disorder have been detected, crimes have been reduced by 1.37 percent, and economic frauds have increased 9 percent since last year. Communications encouraging people to get involved in fighting and preventing crimes is being promoted by ministries, sectors and localities. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said: "The strong determination of Party Committees and the involvement of the Politburo and the people will boost crime fighting and prevention effectiveness. The Politburo and Government consider fighting and preventing crimes an important and never-ending task and we should do it more effectively".

The Steering Board also worked out 7 key tasks to reinforce the Party’s leadership in crime fighting and prevention from now until the end of the year including encouraging the people to take part in safeguarding national security and promoting international cooperation in dealing with trans national crimes.
