In a statement issued Friday, the UN Security Council said its members "condemned in the strongest terms the barbaric and cowardly terrorist attacks" in Paris. The members of the Security Council expressed their deep sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the French government, the statement said. In an earlier statement, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon condemned "the despicable terrorist attacks carried out today in various locations in and around Paris." In a letter to Hollande early Saturday morning, European Council President Donald Tusk said that "this attack is an outrage against France, and against Europe as a whole.  British Prime Minister David Cameron on Friday said he was "deeply shocked" by the deadly attacks in Paris, offering "thoughts and prayers" to the French people. German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Friday evening that she was deeply shocked by the attacks in Paris and declared solidarity with France. U.S. President Barack Obama on Friday condemned the deadly attacks still unfolding in Paris. Calling the attacks "an outrageous attempt to terrorize innocent civilians," Obama said the United States stood ready to assist the French government. Canada is ready to offer all possible assistance to France, Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau said Friday night. The Kremlin condemned the “hateful” string of attacks and the “inhuman murders” of more than 120 people in Paris Friday, spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. President Vladimir Putin meanwhile offered condolences and support to his counterpart Francois Hollande and the French people. NATO head Jens Stoltenberg said he was were “deeply shocked” by the attacks in Paris on Friday and said NATO would join France to fight terrorism. On Saturday, leaders of Spain, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Middle East countries, and Asia strongly condemned the Paris attacks.
