(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam has no new community transmission of COVID-19 in 57 consecutive days, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said on Friday. Of the 332 cases confirmed so far in Vietnam, only 11 are still active.
COVID-19 cases now total 7.5 million globally.
The US has been the worst-hit country with 2 million cases.
Latin America has reported 1.5 million cases and Brazil recorded 1,000 deaths in the last 24 hours. Brazil’s 40,000 deaths are the third highest death toll in the world.
The Italian Ministry of Health says the novel coronavirus is spreading and the number of patients without symptoms is increasing, so people need to take precautions as there is still no vaccine available.
Tokyo is no longer reporting increases in the number of infections.
Egypt has confirmed 1,400 new COVID-19 cases, raising its total to 30,000.
