Applauding the role and responsibility of the WHO and its online conference, the PM shared Vietnam’s experience in combating COVID-19. He said: "The Vietnamese government with its strong political determination considers fighting the epidemic fighting the enemy. The government has resolutely, comprehensively, and flexibly implemented a series of measures, including quarantining Vietnamese returning home, foreigners entering Vietnam, and people who have contact with positive cases, and fencing and wiping out hotspots. At the same time, we implement a dual task of fighting COVID-19 and stabilizing society and economy. The government has accepted economic losses to protect people’s lives and health. Economic and financial packages have recently been adopted to help the vulnerable, particularly the poor and disadvantaged workers, so that nobody is left behind.”
The Prime Minister said Vietnam is now controlling the situation with no deaths reported and nearly 50% of infection cases cured.
As the COVID-19 pandemic is spreading beyond territorial borders, the international cooperation is important and requires nations to stay united, PM Phuc expressed his belief and asked the WHO to continue taking the lead in mobilizing and coordinating national resources, prioritizing vaccines, medicines and medical equipment.
The Prime Minister thanked the international community’s support for the fight against COVID-19 and expressed his belief that once countries stand side by side with each other, the world will defeat the pandemic, safeguard the people’s health, and cooperate towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030
