(VOVworld) – Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan on Thursday had a working session with Ha Quang and Thong Nong districts in Cao Bang province. Their discussion focused on a project to promote 600 young academics as the vice chairs in 62 poor communes nationwide. The Deputy PM urged the young officials to update their knowledge of their local areas and identify people’s aspirations. This is so they can help the local administration to draw up appropriate policy: “There are 11,000 communes nationwide. This time 600 educated young people are deployed to poor communes to work as commune’s Vice Chair people. This move is unprecedented and if successful, it will provide opportunity to improve the quality of communal officials. This task is the responsibility of the whole political system.”

Cao Bang is the first province in Vietnam to have young people as vice chairs of their communes. The project began on March 1st
