Deputy Prime Ministers call for reform of tourism industry

(VOVworld) – On Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam chaired a working session on a draft project to develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector. The project is run by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Mr. Dam said the project should clearly define specific orientations and policies to develop tourism to make it more modern and professional.

Mr. Hue stressed the need to highlight contributions by the tourism sector to other sectors, including transportation, trade, agriculture, craft villages, and finance. He suggested the draft project work out a vision to 2030 in addition to tourism development targets to 2020.
Mr. Hue said tourism should be considered an economic sector abiding by market economy principles and regulations. He mentioned some policies, including restructuring tourism towards professionalism, modernity and sustainable development on the basis of the market economy and international integration.
