Diplomacy leverages national soft power, spreads Vietnam image

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Monday emphasized that the diplomatic sector needs to leverage national soft power to spread the image of Vietnam as "independent, self-reliant, peaceful, friendly, cooperative, developing, prosperous, and happy" country commensurate its the stature in the new era.

Addressing the Hanoi meeting reviewing the diplomatic sector’s performance in 2025 and outlining directions and tasks for 2026, the Prime Minister urged for strengthened relations with neighboring countries, major powers, strategic partners, comprehensive partners, traditional friends, and other partners.

“Elevate Vietnam's international mission and its contributions to peace, development, and the resolution of common regional and global issues. Contribute to the building and protection of a fair and equitable international order based on international law. Keep expanding development spaces, creating breakthroughs, and maximizing external resources and favorable conditions for rapid and sustainable growth," according to PM Chinh.
"Build a comprehensive, modern, and professional diplomatic system and strengthen three pillars of foreign policy – Party diplomacy, State diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy.”
Vietnam has achieved macroeconomic stability and controlled inflation in 2025, Prime Minister Chinh said, adding the diplomatic sector has made a significant contribution to national achievements.
