The Egyptian Supreme Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday started to remove travel sanction against former officials who were accused of receiving illegal “gifts”. These officials will be allowed to access their cash and property after returning to the public fund any illegally obtained money. On December 29 of last year, Egyptian Prosecutor General Talaat Ibrahim Abdallah ordered travel sanctions against 26 people including former President Hosni Mubarak, his wife, and his two sons and daughter-in-law, accused of receiving gifts from Al Ahram national press between 2006 and 2011. Former Prime Minister Admed Nazif, the former Minister of Internal Affairs, and the former Chief of the Presidential office Zakaria Azmi are also involved.
