The EU’s competitiveness is the central theme of the meeting. Amid global economic volatility, EU leaders will seek to reinforce the bloc’s position on the international stage. They will prioritize three areas in their competitiveness debate: simplification, energy, and the savings and investment union.

Additionally, the summit will focus on building an action plan for the automotive, steel, and metals industries to drive innovation and growth in these critical sectors.

The summit will also address the situation in Ukraine and review White Paper on the future of European defense, to shape the bloc’s long-term defense policies. Another key topic on the agenda is the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and the next generation of EU own resources.
