FIFA confirms 2030 World Cup hosts, Saudi set to stage 2034 tournament
(VOVWORLD) -Saudi Arabia was officially confirmed Wednesday by FIFA as host of the 2034 World Cup in men’s soccer, while Spain, Portugal and Morocco will co-host in a six-nation World Cup in 2030.

Uruguay, who hosted the first World Cup in 1930, will host the 2030 tournament’s opening match, to commemorate the centennial celebration. Argentina, the runner up of the first World Cup, and Paraguay, where the South American football confederation - Conmebol - is based will each get one of the 104 games.
Spain, which hosted the 1982 World Cup, is set to be the centerpiece as it boasts 11 of the 20 proposed stadiums. Meanwhile, Morocco will become the second African nation to host the competition after South Africa in 2010. Potential venues for the 2030 World Cup’s final include the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid and Camp Nou in Barcelona.
