Vietnam prioritizes strengthening ties with Dominican Republic
(VOVWORLD) - General Secretary To Lam has emphasized Vietnam’s commitment to fostering friendly and cooperative relations with the Dominican Republic, including the MIU Party and other political entities in the country for the well-being of both nations’ citizens and for peace, stability, and development in their respective regions and globally.

At a meeting on Thursday with Mr. Miguel Mejia, General Secretary of the United Left Movement (MIU) and Minister of Policies for Regional Integration of the Dominican Republic, the Vietnamese Party leader asked Mr. Miguel Mejia to convey greetings and an official invitation to Dominican President Luis Abinader for a state visit to Vietnam in 2025 in order to further solidify recent high-level agreements and commitments, particularly in strengthening economic cooperation.
Mr. Miguel Mejia expressed his appreciation for Vietnam’s growing role and influence on the international stage. He affirmed that the United Left Movement, alongside other Dominican political parties and the government, is eager to deepen bilateral relations in a practical and impactful manner.
He also pledged continued support for Vietnam in international and multilateral forums where the two nations share membership.
As part of the delegation’s activities in Vietnam, the United Left Movement engaged in discussions with Mr. Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Party Central Committee’s External Relations Commission.
They also met with leaders of the Military Telecommunications Group (Viettel) and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, paid tribute to the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, and laid a wreath at the statue of Dominican luminary Professor Juan Bosch in Hoa Binh Park, Hanoi.
