(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continue playing a pioneering, central, and regular role in cultivating and safeguarding a peaceful, stable environment.

“We must be at the forefront in implementing the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization and being a reliable friend and partner to all countries, and a responsible member of the international community, contributing to peace, cooperation, and development," Mr. Chinh said at the Ministry’s Party Congress in Hanoi on Tuesday.
He called for efforts to uphold the principle of ‘steadfast in objectives, flexible in actions’ in foreign affairs. “Diplomacy is a front, and every diplomat must be a frontline soldier on that front.”
The Congress outlined key priorities, including implementing a comprehensive, effective approach to diplomacy across politics, economics, and culture; and resolutely and persistently defending national independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and Vietnam’s legitimate rights and interests in accordance with international law.
