The event was held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. At the workshop, participants mulled over the revolution’s features and its challenges to development, mindset and policy changes in the world, how to optimize opportunities and minimize the revolution’s adverse influences, and what Vietnam should do to tap into its potential as the revolution grows.
Deputy Foreign Minister Son said the next production revolution, or the fourth industrial revolution, began at the same time as the breakthroughs in smart technology. It has been developing strongly in recent years. Son stressed after finishing negotiations on or signing new-generation free trade agreements (FTAs) like the Trans-Pacific Partnership or the bilateral FTAs with the EU and the Eurasian Economic Union, Vietnam has advanced to a very important stage of development that requires strong mindset reforms and great resolve to accelerate national industrialization and modernization. Mr. Son said the workshop is useful for Vietnam to take advantage of the new production revolution for its industrialization and modernization.
