(VOVWORLD) - An incense offering ceremony to honor Vietnam's female general Le Chan, who established settlements and laid the foundation for modern day Hai Phong city, was held on Wednesday by the People's Committee of Le Chan Ward.

The ceremony kickstarts a series of activities to honor the great general, as part of a festival recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2016.
The festival, which will run until Friday, features an art program called "An Ode to General Le Chan", which relates Hai Phong's historic past and unique cultural values.
As part of the event, ca tru singing and chau van performances will be held at Nghe Temple, alongside Mother Goddess worship rituals.
