(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh urged Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) to focus on developing specialized training in areas where Vietnam has strength and which are in line with global trends to become a point of convergence for leading scientists in Vietnam and abroad.

During a meeting at the university's campus on Friday, Prime Minister Chinh said VNU should promote research in natural sciences, social sciences, and applied sciences and provide scientific arguments to Party and State guidelines, strategies, and plans for Vietnam’s socio-economic development.
It also needs to promote digital transformation and the application of information technology toward building a smart, digital university, increase research on semiconductor, technology, and closely cooperate with domestic and foreign enterprises on training, research, technology transfer, and commercialization, the Prime Minister said.
On Friday, Prime Minister Chinh visited and worked with FPT University and FPT Software Co., Ltd., at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, Hanoi.
The company has been Vietnam’s digital transformation pioneer since 2016. It has been present in 29 countries and is a digital transformation partner of hundreds of corporations and organizations around the world. In 2006, the company established FPT University, a new generation university which provides IT human resources.
Talking to FPT University students, the Prime Minister called on them to improve their knowledge and expertise to succeed in their work and truly become digital citizens, contributing to building a more powerful and prosperous country.
