(VOVworld) - Thousands of people participated in the “Red Sunday”, a voluntary blood donation program, held in Ho Chi Minh city on Sunday. Some 1,000 blood units were collected in the morning of the day.
Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Youth Union Nguyen Anh Tuan said the program holds a significant meaning in increasing public awareness of sharing precious blood to save patients. After Ho Chi Minh City, the program will travel to other provinces and cities across the country. The “Red Sunday” was first held in 2009. Taking place nationwide on the New Year occasion, the program has received warm response from the public, especially young people.
