Ho Chi Minh City readies for March 15 election

(VOVWORLD) - On March 15, 2026, Vietnamese voters will go to the polls to elect deputies to the 16th National Assembly and the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

In Ho Chi Minh City, election communications, voter registration, facilities, security and public order work has so far been proceeding in a timely manner. Leaders of the Municipal People’s Council have requested wards and communes to continue strictly implementing procedures for receiving, reviewing and managing candidate dossiers, ensuring compliance with legal regulations and preventing procedural mistakes.

Local authorities have been asked to diversify communication efforts so residents better understand the significance and importance of the vote, as well as the rights and obligations of voters.

Nguyen Ngoc Hoi, deputy director of the city’s Department of Culture and Sports, said localities had received banners, slogans and other materials for election-day publicity.

“We’ve compiled a list of people in charge and reporting team to be posted on the Municipal People’s Council information portal. When localities have information about their events, they send it to this central reporting group so it can be shared and publicized,” said Hoi.

For units performing duties at sea, the city plans to organize early voting for around 4,538 voters from February 26, in Phuoc Thang ward, Tam Thang ward and Long Son commune.

Ho Chi Minh City has established Election Committees in 168 communes, wards, and special zones. The city has also designated 13 constituencies for electing 38 National Assembly deputies; 42 constituencies for electing 125 People's Council representatives; and 1,306 commune-level constituencies for electing 4,236 representatives.
