Improving accuracy of weather forecasts

(VOVworld) – On Thursday, National Assembly deputies discussed the draft Law on Hydro-meteorology, compiled by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, aimed at mitigating natural disasters and climate change. Lawmakers proposed that revisions should include codes and standards to support accurate hydro-meteorology forecasts as well as penalties for inaccurate forecasts. Some deputies recommended incentives to attract better-qualified people to hydro-meteorological forecast jobs, especially in remote, border, and island areas. They also called for better coordination between hydro-meteorological observation stations and the mass media to increase the effectiveness of forecasts.
