(VOVWORLD) - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a Joint Statement on Thursday following the 23rd India–Russia Summit in New Delhi. The statement reaffirmed the two nations’ long-standing “Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership,” describing it as an anchor of stability in a multipolar world.

Both sides reiterated their goal of boosting bilateral trade to 100 billion USD by 2030, advancing high-tech industrial projects, and expanding energy cooperation.
In defense, the two sides emphasized joint research, development, and production of defense systems in India under the “Make in India” initiative, with an eye toward third-country exports. The joint statement also highlights cooperation in science and technology, digital transformation, cybersecurity, and essential minerals and rare earths.
Russia reaffirmed its support for India’s bid to become a permanent member of an expanded UN Security Council. The two sides committed to close coordination at the United Nations, advancing multilateral reform, and strongly condemning terrorism.
Following the talks, the Indian and Russian leaders witnessed the exchange of several documents, including memoranda of understanding on cooperation in trade, migration, labor, and healthcare.
