According to Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang, total trade is expected to reach 920 billion USD by year-end, creating a new springboard for economic growth.
Exports are estimated at over 470 billion USD, up 16% year-on-year. Vietnam has recorded a trade surplus for 10 consecutive years since 2016, helping ensure stable foreign-currency inflows, ease pressure on the exchange rate, and strengthen foreign-exchange reserves.
Vietnam’s import-export activities have expanded steadily. From the 100 billion USD milestone in 2009, total trade turnover has grown nine fold over the past 16 years.
The number of export items valued at over 1 billion USD has increased from 10 in 2007 to 36 at present, while the number of export markets exceeding 1 billion USD rose from 27 in 2013 to 35 by the end of last year.
