Last year India was the eighth largest source of tourists to Vietnam with 500,000 travellers. In 2024, 55,000 Vietnamese tourists visited India, a substantive increase over the previous year.

Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Sandeep Arya said he hopes this year will see tourism growth of 25-30% between the two countries.

To achieve this goal, Ambassador Sandeep Arya said, “First, we’re persuading the civil aviation authorities and airlines in both countries to create more connections between more cities. Second, we’re taking travel operators in Vietnam to India to learn about opportunities.”

“Third, we have brought out publications for VITM 2025 and will publish a book explaining travel sites. Some sites in India are well known, but we want people to be aware of more sites. So we’re connecting travel operators on both sides so they can extend services to each other,” the diplomat noted.

The Embassy is working closely with Vietnamese travel agencies in an effort to attract more Vietnamese tourists to India.
