Israel, Hezbollah trade blows

(VOVWORLD) - Hezbollah fired some 65 rockets from Lebanon, most of which were intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome aerial defense system and some of which fell into open areas, said the Israel Defense Forces on Wednesday.

The missile barrage was Hezbollah’s largest attack in the past week. There were no reports of casualties.

In response, Israeli fighter jets struck Hezbollah rocket launchers in Kounine and Qabrikha in southern Lebanon. They also struck Hezbollah targets in southern Zibqin, Khiam, and Ayta ash-Shab, the IDF said.

At a press conference in Jerusalem, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insisted that his country must retain its control of the border between Gaza’s Philadelphi corridor and Egyptian Sinai, despite domestic and international pressure. He also said Israeli troops must remain in this buffer zone to prevent Israeli hostages from being smuggled across the border.
