Israel, Palestine resume peace talks in Cairo
(VOVworld) - Israel and Palestine have resumed peace talks in Cairo in a bid to reach an enduring truce in the Gaza strip and end the bloodshed there. The talks began a day ahead of the deadline of the temporary ceasefire in Gaza. A member of the Fatah delegation to Gaza, Faisal Abu Shahla, said the Palestinians were moderately optimistic about the negotiations, which are expected to continue on Monday. He said Palestine will not soften its demand that Israel lift its blockade of Gaza. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel will not agree to any long-term truce in Gaza if its security demands are not met.
